Fyre Description:

Fyre is a program that makes art using math. It takes a few inputs and makes intricate patterns that can even be used as repeating backgrounds. It uses a special math formula called the Peter de Jong map to do this. You can use Fyre through a simple point-and-click interface or by typing commands, making it easy to get clear, detailed pictures.

The pictures made with Fyre come from a basic math equation:

x’ = sin(a * y) – cos(b * x) y’ = sin(c * x) – cos(d * y)

These equations shuffle points around in a random way. The longer Fyre works, the better it gets at guessing where points end up on the picture, making the final image more accurate.

Fyre treats the final picture like a very detailed map of light and dark (called a High Dynamic Range image). It has tools to tweak this map to make the image look even better, like smoothing out colors more smoothly than other art programs. It can also make the picture’s blurry parts look more natural without losing any detail.
